Pasta e Fagioli or Minestrone, I'm Not Sure Which

I made this excellent soup last month, froze it, and instantly forgot about it. Then it got really hot out and I got a burnin' burnin' yearnin' for chilled cucumber bisque.

I blew off this yearnin'.

Nothing says "too lazy to make cucumber bisque" like a steaming bowl of previously frozen minestrone. Or pasta e fagioli.

Vouvray, Domaine des Aubuisieres 2003

"Say,Twisty, whaddya drink while you wait for those big blocks of frozen minestrone to thaw out?"

Domaine des Aubuisieres. It's indescribably delicious. And cheap, too. I've put away nearly a case of this hooch so far this summer, and it's only August.

There's an accent grave over the first e in Aubuisieres, but I don't know how to type that in HTML.

Cowboy Burger Central Market

The much-vaunted Cowboy Burger marks another milestone in my ongoing and largely fruitless quest for edible prepared food from the grocery store.

Purchasable in raw puck form from the meat counter at CM, the Cowboy Burger turned out to have an unusual bratwurstian affectation: it sort of burst when I bit it, as though it had been encased in a pressure-sensitive force field. Biting--the universal reaction of the human mandible when in the society of hamburgers--released millions of superheated nano grease-bots that seared my mouth shut.

Giant Meat Roast Origin Unknown

Earthbound Farm Organic "Grab & Go" Caesar Salad

You have to question the "grab & go" ethos manifested by this so-called organic salad. "Grab & Go" and "civilization" cannot exist on the same plane, OK? And what's with all the petroleum products? Like some huge souvenir Lucite paperweight from Salad Expo '99, the thing came entombed in both a cellophane bag and a clear plastic sarcophagus. Separately packaged using even more plastic were the croutons, the plastic fork/napkin kit, and the Caesar dressing. So many chemicals and polluting technologies went into this salad I'm tempted to hatch the theory that Earthbound Farm is a front for Monsanto.
