Another Clean-Out-The-Fridge Dish, August 2004 Fried rice with semi-wilted and/or frozen vegetables. This is what happens when you run out of bounty.

Bounty August 2004 It is hard to imagine that this ripe, robust flora will one day be semi-wilted, at which point I will suddenly remember that I bought it, and will call upon it to curse a sub-par soup or casserole that I will regret eating. |

Absurd, Unbalanced Dinner of Rich Favorites August 2004 Jumbo lump crab cakes with avocado sauce on field greens, twice-baked potato with bacon, and corn bread This is what happens when there is too much bounty. The temptation to cook all the stuff you wished you'd been eating over the last few days when instead you had ramen and fried rice because you were too lazy to go to the store can result in gross superfluity. This dinner also involved a soup course, a wholly unwarranted and ludicrous appetizer of Tiny Meatloaf (see below) on toast points with mustard, and a slab of chocolate angelfood cake bought on impulse after trying a sample at the grocery store. |

Meatloaf, The Tiny Series, August 2004 Most of the time I am the grasshopper, but occasionally I am the ant, such as yesterday when I baked a bunch of diminutive meatloaves (meatloaf "singles," if you will) for the freezer. This way, the next time I am too lazy to go to the grocery store, not only will I not starve, but the frozen food I have imposed upon myself will be easier to open. |

Half A Meatloaf Sandwich August 2004 With attractive breakfast radishes and a bottle of Ting, nothing says "I'm gonna lunch like it's 1971!" like a meatloaf sandwich.
